FAQs 2026 Season

When is registration?

Registration starts on February 1 and takes place on-line. Registration will close March 08, 2026

  • Registration after March 8 will only be available if there is space on rosters.

Can I register for any lacrosse club?

No. Lacrosse registration is based on where you live. Players must register with the minor club based on the area they reside as of April 1 of the playing season.

To ensure you are registering in your catchment area, use the MMLL's Where do I play? page to look up your address in the searchable boundary map. There is contact information for all clubs on this page as well.

As per MMLL bylaws, players must show proof of residency during the registration process using:

  • Property tax bill where primary residency grant has been claimed
  • Power bill
  • Phone bill
  • If none of the above documents can be provided because the parent/guardian rents and does not pay own utilities, then the following shall apply
    • A letter from the Landlord verifying rental agreement

Can a player register for a division below/above their age division?

  • A player can NOT play below their age division.
  • A player can play above their age division.  Refer to www.mmll.ca and look at Regulation 5 Player Movement under the OPERATING RULES tab.

U7 and U9 program runs twice a week.

U7 - Thursday evening and Saturday morning

U9 - Tuesday evening and Saturday morning OR Thursday evening and Saturday morning

There will also be opportunity for exhibition games and jamborees.

U11 - U17

There are 14 games in the MMLL season, plus play off games. Teams may also choose to participate in tournaments at an extra cost to families.

Teams will have a weekly practice time during the season, scheduled around league games. Additional floor time may be available from time to time and you will be given the opportunity to join additional sessions if and when they are available.

Where are the games played?

All practices and home games are at Spryfield Lions Arena. Away games are in arenas across HRM (Greenfoot Energy Center, Cole Harbor Place, Sackville Arena, Eastern Shore).

My child wants to play goalie, but I do not have any equipment.

Goalie equipment is provided by the association. Please reach out to hfx.hurricanes.lacrosse@gmail.com to get set up. All goalie gear must be returned in good condition at the end of the season.

Where do I find lacrosse equipment?

If you're looking for lacrosse gear, you have a few options. Big box stores like Cleve's, SportChek and Pro Hockey Life have limited selection but you will find gear there. If you're looking for more expertise and selection, we recommend SportWheels (www.sportwheels.ca) for your equipment. If you're looking to have your head restrung, we reccomend the McDonald brothers at Eleget.

Check out our player equipment page for more information.

What do registration fees include?

The registration fees cover:

  • All preseason practices, tryouts, team balancing sessions, and in season weekly practices
  • 14 league games and playoff games
  • Lacrosse Nova Scotia and Lacrosse Canada fees
  • All team equipment including team balls, first aid kit, jerseys, practice pinnies (to be returned at the end of the season)

If your team chooses to enter a tournament, get team photos, etc., additional costs for those activities will be communicated and will be the responsibility of the players' families.

Do we get to keep our jersey?

No. Players will be provided with a team jersey and practice pinnie for the season. Prior to receiving their jerseys, parents will need to complete a deposit form. Game shorts can be purchased through the Hurricanes online store, along with other team apparel such as t-shirts, hoodies, hats, and more!

When will I hear from the team?

Initial communications regarding tryouts, team balancing, and schedules will come via email from the club. Once teams are set, rosters will be available on the Team Ramp app, where managers and coaches will communicate with families.
